East Meets West With New Chinese Law Website

Isinolaw Limited is launching a website of China law. The Chinese authorities have granted them the right to put the official English versions of Chinese court cases on the Internet. This is part of the open policy of China reforms. This service will be available by subscription, pay-per-view, selective subscription, and corporate accounts, and the information itself will be available in both English and Chinese.  Unfortunately, at the moment there's nothing at http://www.isinolaw.com/ but an "under construction" notice, and the press release doesn't seem to give any indication of when the site will be launched.

Free Email Providers Guide Is New And Improved

FEPG.net, a Free Email Providers Guide ( http://FEPG.net/ ), has re-launched with new features. Now users can search the listings of 1200 free email providers from 85 countries. Users are guided through a process to choose an ideal email provider that has the features they need. FEPG has also broadened their services to include free fax, free voicemail, free long distance calls, and other free services.

CyberAlert Launches New Monitoring Service
Internet Wire via Comtex: May 8, 2000. CyberAlert, Inc. has released version 3.0 of an advanced Internet monitoring and clipping service. This version includes a fully-integrated archiving and clip management system for public relations, reputation management, market research, competitive intelligence, business planning, and intellectual property surveillance. CyberAlert can track information that is being distributed online about one of its subscribers. Their service can clip more than 2,000 web publications, monitors and clips more than 60,000 Usenet news groups, and searches indexes of more than 2.2 million websites daily.

CyberAlert doesn't have a "per clip" fee, but instead has a flat fee of $395 a month for each search term. There's also a set-up fee and a storage fee if your collection of clippings exceeds 3500. Business Info Site Brings East and West Together                                
SINA.com has joined China Online to provide an online resource for understanding the Chinese business environment. The English news center will have daily updates on business, finance, and technology stories from China Online. This information can be accessed by clicking the "English News" button on SINA.com's homepage or at http://www.sina.com/news/index.html.

Brief Reporter Now Upgraded

Internet Law Library has re-launched its Web service, Brief Reporter LLC with a new design and new features. The site now offers an e-mail newsletter, a Top 100 Legal Topics page, and 2 new Topical Practice Centers designed for users who like to browse rather than search. Brief Reporter contains over 6,000 legal briefs from previously litigated cases and contact information for authoring attorneys.

Free searching and free e-mail updates of newly added briefs are services now being offered. For a fee, the full text of a brief may be downloaded. (There's also a "brief of the week" that's viewable for free.) The Internet Law Library also offers the National Law Library and GoverNet Affairs as part of its legal research tools. Pac-Info (http://www.pac-info.com/) has almost hit 1500 in their list of publicly accessible online database, and this week has added a pile of district court databases, including:

Virginia - Eastern District U.S. Court
West Virginia - Northern District U.S. Court

New Mailing List for Law Resources

What, you mean that LLRXBuzz and the rest of the LLRX resources aren't enough for you? You've got to be kidding!  Well, actually *I'm* kidding. There's plenty of information online and it's not very likely that one resource can cover it all. LawSource (info page at http://www.egroups.com/group/LawSource) describes itself as: "a list for legal resources on the Internet for attorneys, law firms, law libraries, law schools, corporations, and others who have a need to locate sources of legal information."  They've got searchable archives back to early 1999 and a current membership of over 500 people. Worth a look.
