Margaret Berkland is the president of Data Vision Design, Inc., which specializes in providing IT solutions to the legal community. Founded in Fredericksburg, VA in 1989, Data Vision Design, Inc. provides services that include: applications development, business process design, applications integration, electronic file tracking and, access expedition. Prior to becoming the president of DataVision Design, Inc., Margaret was the Info. Resources Technology Specialist for McKenna & Cuneo, where she still performs those duties on a contract basis. European Commission Press Room

The European Commission's online press room is updated around the clock and is available in French and English. Some of the sections included are: Headlines, Last-minute (last minute news), Latest Press Releases, Press release database--1985 to date (search by date, subject, institution or reference number), Press releases of the last 7 days, News from other institutions, Calendar of events, Commission's agenda, and News in pictures.

NTIS (National Technical Information Service)

Users can search the NTIS Electronic Catalog for over 400,000 publications plus CD-ROMS, datafiles, and audiovisuals received since 1990. The items are government-funded scientific, technical, and engineering information from United States government agencies and departments. NTIS also handles items from Canada, Europe and Japan. Users can place an order online and pick up purchased downloads. E-mail weekly NTILS E-Alerts are available and Best Seller Announcements. There are links to four product families and four product types.

A Project for Attorney Retention

The goal of PAR is to improve recruiting and retention of talented attorneys at District of Columbia law firms through work schedules designed to allow better balance between work demands and attorneys lives outside the office. Recommendations for professionally rewarding, non-punitive work schedules are being developed by PAR. This site provides links to "what part-time arrangements D.C. firms now have" (The Scoop), "what part-time attorneys say works--and doesn't" (Real Life), and Tips for Going Part-Time. There are also links to articles, work-life resources, and past issues of the newsletter. PAR is an initiative of The Gender, Work and Family Program of American University Washington College of Law, funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and supported by the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia.

"Phaster is an info portal that will help you find: reverse lookup phone numbers, MP3’s, proxy hacks, stock quotes, currency conversions, online maps, weather reports, eMail, free submission services, etc!" It billed as a noncommercialized website.

This beta site search engine is from Intelliseek. It has over 1,000 sources of information, a large collection of searchable "invisible Web" sources, and allows users to search using already specified groups of vertical search sources. Under the Legal topic, there are currently 9 searchable areas, including Federal Government, Legal Directories, Legal News and Legal Forms.
