Famous Name Changes

This is a fun as well as useful site for determining the birth names of famous persons. The site is divided into categories: actors, singers/entertainers, sporting heroes, politicians, religious leaders, and others such as models, opera singers, writers, comedians, and many more. Each person’s date of birth, location, and a brief statement concerning their claim to fame is provided.

Figures of Speech

Seven categories of figures of speech are included along with definitions of each type. Each category has a link to the types of figures of speech in each category. Each type includes a definition and an example. The categories included are: tropes, metaplasmic figures, figures of omission, figures of repetition (words), figures of repetition (clauses and ideas), figures of unusual word order, and figures of thought. The site is maintained by Professor Grant Williams of Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario, Canada.

Multilaterals Project

“The Multilaterals Project, begun in 1992, is an ongoing project at the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts to make available the texts of international multilateral conventions and other instruments.” The conventions are organized into ten subject areas. There is also a chronological listing of the conventions. You search the site by key word or browse by category or subject.
